Crisis Support Worker (Alison McAteer House)

Alison McAteer House is a secure 12-bed shelter located in Yellowknife for women and children fleeing violence. Most stays are short term. Staff help by providing support, safety planning and assisting with applications for Emergency Protection Orders to keep abusers away.
We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualifications:
- An awareness of family violence issues facing women in the north
- Good listening and problem-solving skills
- A non-judgemental attitude
- Standard First Aid and CPR (C)
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Up to date immunizations, including Hep B and TB
This is a job-share position with a minimum of 12 scheduled hours every other weekend.
Wages: $22.18 per hour

Primary Support Worker
The Primary Support Worker is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of clients with psychiatric disabilities, supporting and teaching independent living skills, facilitating community inclusion opportunities, medication administration, documentation, providing supervision and guidance to Community Support Workers who staff the home, and liaising with the Community Support Services Coordinator.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- A diploma or certificate in social work or related field
- Experience working with individuals with mental health issues
- Experience supervising others would be an asset
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Standard First Aid and CPR (C)
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Up to date immunizations, including Hepatitis B and TB
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
