YWCA NWT is the largest provider of licensed child care in the Northwest Territories through our afterschool program.

The afterschool program is a fee-for-service program for children registered in kindergarten. Cost is $280/month. Programs are conveniently located at the school so your child or children don't have to leave school at dismissal. Staff provide a wide variety of exciting indoor and outdoor activities to keep children engaged and entertained. They also serve a healthy snack. The program runs from dismissal until 5:45 p.m.

Each afterschool location is supervised by an adult leader, assisted by a high school student leader. They are trained in First Aid and CPR, providing a safe environment for all.

YWCA NWT also offers half day, full day and March break programs when schools are closed. For more information in regards to any of these programs, please contact Hawa ( or Rachael (, 867-873-4293).
